A Nepalese newspaper has stated that the construction of Shigatshe to Kerung railway has officially been started from today. As per the same source, it is estimated that the project will take seven years to conclude the 540 km railway line.

The railway line is considered to be important for the development of Tibet area and the Chinese government also wants to link the railway with Kailash Mansoravar in the near future.

This comes in the wake of current PM of Nepal, K.P. Oli signing a treaty of international transit with China few years back and last year, signing the memorandum of understanding between the countries for the construction of railway lines, energy cooperation and overall the Chinese government seems to be in the awe of developing the Tibet area by connecting it with Nepal for better trade.

Nepal hopes to have a  diplomatic win by using the Chinese railway to tap into the “One belt, One road” initiative of Chinese government and have an easy international trading with the world.
